The Plot Against America is an HBO drama miniseries co-created by David Simon and Ed Burns, the same team that created The Wire. The series is based on the book of the same name by author Philip Roth, originally published in 2004. The plot focuses on an alternate American history Franklin D. Roosevelt is defeated in the presidential election of 1940 by Charles Lindbergh. The novel follows the fortunes of the Roth family during the Lindbergh presidency, as antisemitism becomes more accepted in American life and Jewish-American families like the Roths are persecuted on various levels. The Plot Against America aired in March 2020 on HBO. The miniseries has several further connections to The Wire in the form of shared cast and crew members.
