Seth Gilliam, born November 5, 1968, is an American actor. He stars as Ellis Carver in third, fourth, & fifth seasons. He initially appeared as a guest star in the first and second seasons. He has appeared in the films Courage Under Fire (1996), Starship Troopers (1997), and Punks (2000).

Gilliam portrays Ellis Carver on all five seasons of The Wire. He initially appeared as a guest star and then joined the starring cast in the third season.

He is most notable for appearances on the HBO programs Oz (as Clayton Hughes) and The Wire as Ellis Carver. On both of these appearances, he co-starred with Lance Reddick and J.D. Williams. He was directly cast alongside both of these actors. His feature film credits include Private Sugar Watkins in the 1997 action movie Starship Troopers.

He went on to appear in The Walking Dead as Father Gabriel. He appeared alongside Chad Coleman and Lawrence Gilliard, Jr. in the series.
