'In Treatment' is an HBO drama about a psychotherapist, Paul (Gabriel Byrne), and his weekly sessions with his patients. It premiered on January 28, 2008. The show is a five-night-a-week serial drama. Each night will focuses on one specific patient. The format, script, and theme music are based on the critically acclaimed Israeli show Betipul that was created and produced by Israeli filmmaker Hagai Levi. Forty-five episodes have been ordered as a block, the same number as the first season of Betipul. The series was developed for HBO by Rodrigo Garcia. The first season ran on HBO at the same time as the final season of The Wire and the two shows have several connections in the form of shared cast and crew members.
