Callie Thorne, born November 20, 1969 in Boston, Massachusetts, USA, is an actress of Italian and Portuguese ancestry. She plays Elena McNulty in The Wire. She is a guest star in the first, second, third, fourth, & fifth seasons. She has appeared in The Wire creator David Simon's other series Homicide: Life on the Street. She has been active since 1996 and has also appeared in the series Rescue Me and Necessary Roughness and the film Next Stop Wonderland (1998).

Biography[]

Thorne studied Theatre and Dramatic Literature at Wheaton College in Massachusetts and at The Lee Strasberg Institute in New York.

She plays Sheila Keefe, the 9/11 widow of Jimmy, who was the cousin of Tommy Gavin (Denis Leary) on Rescue Me. She has had guest spots on such series as ER (2005 - 2006), Law & Order: Criminal Intent ("Silver Lining", 2004), Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (2003 - 2004), and Prison Break (2006), between others. Most recently, she was featured in the David Wain original short series "Wainy Days" in a memorable role.

In 1997 and 1998 Thorne starred as Detective Laura Ballard on the television series Homicide: Life on the Street and it's subsequent TV movie. She has also had many small roles in film and TV movies as well, but did have a starring role in Chocolate for Breakfast (1998).

Thorne has also done work on stage, such as in the off-Broadway play The Country Club (1999), with Cynthia Nixon in New York City. Additionally, she appeared with Eric Bogosian and Sam Rockwell in The Last Days of Judas Iscariot (2005), directed by Philip Seymour Hoffman.
